Welcome to SCSG
We are a bunch of shibari addicts based in Brighton, UK, who want to share our knowledge, learn more from each other and hang out with other rope freaks like ourselves.
The aim of this group is to teach and enjoy shibari / kinbaku and all forms of Japanese bondage. We wish to explore the context of bondage within Japanese culture (not the type in a petri dish!) - as well as philosophical approaches to shibari.
We meet regularly where we combine structured tuition with practice sessions (peer rope) and one-off workshops with guest teachers from all over the UK and internationally.
SCSG does not discriminate by age, sexuality, gender, race/ethnicity, disability status or in any other way. We welcome people of all levels of rope experience (or lack thereof). We are open to everyone who abides by our policy of mutual respect and consideration.
We meet regularly at the beautiful Open Space Studios in Hove.
The space is a large dance studio with a sprung floor, full length mirrors and 16 hardpoints.
With (non-gendered) toilet and changing room, the space is tucked away behind Davigdor Road, halfway between Hove and Brighton train stations, and just a 10 min walk or 5 mins on the bus from either. (Find Us)
Our team is made up of a few rope enthusiasts who are passionate about learning and enjoying rope bondage, and want to help our community to survive and thrive in our lovely hometown of Brighton.
We invest our own time and money into learning from as many teachers as we can, both in the UK and internationally, so that we can improve our knowledge and pass it on to you lovely people!
Amongst us, we represent a diverse cross-section of society, and as such we hold diversity and equality close to our hearts.
If you're interested in getting involved in the running of SCSG, please email us - we're always looking for more volunteers to keep things running.
We exist to enable the community to exist.
